![]() ![]() The one important question I failed to ask is whether or not this flash procedure voids your warranty. And there is a youtube video on what flashing does for the Can Am 4 wheelers. They have a website which you can search for if you are interested. I cannot verify if what they do is excellent work. Also consider that they would have to know the ECU was flashed in the first place to void the warranty. I just flash mine back to stock before going in for any warranty work and have with no issues. The only way to get the full power back is the flash. The individual doing your flash must be competent and accurate. 2 The torque map will bring back some of the flat spot but the top end your gonna lose like 20hp. For Stage 2, you'll need to send the eprom and air box cover. You can always have it flashed to return to stock specs. As an alternative, you can send them the eprom which they will flash and return to you for Stage 1. It takes 5 or 6 hours but that's because they have to remove tupperware and modify the air cleaner box cover which covers your air filter, I expect to allow more air to the engine so it can now produce 10 more HP. Stage 2 requires more work and costs $600. Somewhere on this forum there is a discussion of what is done. For the full terms and conditions of your Razor Limited Warranty, see your eFTR Jr Owners Manual or eFTR Mini Owners Manual. They said that it takes a couple of hours for Stage 1 and cost, after all is said and done, $500. This Limited Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, wheel or any damage, failure or loss caused by improper assembly, maintenance, storage or use of the electric product. If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above then do your bike and yourself a favour and get a flash tune.I rode to Wick-It in Shreveport, LA today to discuss the ECU flashing. If modified in anyway, 99 chance the warranty work request would be denied. Making me grimace instead of smile when I crack the throttle? As expected, he said that before Kawasaki authorizes any warranty work, they request a copy of the ECU calibration, which Im sure is a quicky download.Running rough and generally difficult to control no matter how smooth my throttle inputs?.Feeling as if it’s being pulled in the opposite direction under a steady throttle?.Snatchy in its throttle action and more like a light switch instead of feeling nice and linear? Moral of the story: ask your dealer about what you may or may not do that will make them tell Polaris to void your warranty. ![]() Feeling laggy or stuttering under mid-speed acceleration?.The flipside is an engine that runs too rich, which drinks like a sailor, wreaks of fuel and evidenced by the undesirably dark colour of its sparkplugs. Drawing more air without adjusting the ECU means your engine’s air-fuel mixtures will err towards being lean (too much air and not enough fuel for the engine to burn properly), which typically results in a loss of power and torque, and a very real risk of mid- to long-term engine damage. More air means a bigger bang, which means more power, doesn’t it? Not exactly. He mentioned this because they have had a few people try to claim warranty on failed ECUs after they were re-flashed by third party companies. That was a comment by the Yamaha Rep at the bike shop here in Calgary this past January. Opening the airbox and adding a high-flow air filter and exhaust allows your bike’s engine to draw and better extract more air. Yamaha will refuse warranty on your ECU if something goes wrong after a re-flash by a third party. ![]()
